About us Ambassador Community An inclusive, brave and inspiring network of young women The Ambassador Community is a unique network of young women with one thing in common - every member has been a part of The Girls’ Network mentoring programme. This community exists to support young women by offering development opportunities, careers support and access to our network, for as long as they need. As the community grows, we’re welcoming young women back to the network to empower the next generation of mentees, as they themselves train to become a mentor to a girl in their community. Want to join our Ambassador Community? If you have completed your mentoring journey and want to become an Ambassador please contact our Ambassador Community Lead Rabina: [email protected] You can also join our community Instagram @girlsnet_ambassadors - a private account just for ambassadors and a great way to hear about opportunities and news. We regularly host online events to help our community learn more about certain careers, develop skills and network with each other. You can watch recordings of these here: Ambassador Community Online Workshops Each month we publish a new 'Ambassadors On' blog, where young women from our community share what's important to them - read them here. We always welcome new topics, so if you would like to write one get in touch with Rabina! Here's some of the things that we've been up to... Attending a networking event at No. 10 Downing Street Celebrating at the #BeYou event in Brighton Practicing self-defence in Liverpool Visiting City Hall and meeting Caroline Pidgeon MBE Enjoying a well being retreat with Moon Onyx Starr Networking with women who work in Law Sharing what we do with our partners at Enterprise Visiting Newcastle University Interviewing Belle Ribeiro-Addy MP at Portcullis House Why we exist Our work and research tells us that young women and girls benefit from continued support and access to opportunities once their initial mentoring journey has concluded. We’ve talked to our mentees and ambassadors to learn more about the challenges that they directly face. This community is a brave, empowering space that can help them to manage or overcome these challenges as they take their next steps into education, the working world and beyond. What are some of the key issues that ambassadors are facing? Access to relevant work experience Having their voices heard Mental ill health Financial barriers Access to a relatable network This community seeks to tackle these issues, and beyond by: Providing an ongoing network of relatable role models Raising the voices of, and providing a platform for, ambassadors and their stories Connecting young women to workshops, events and development opportunities The Ambassador Community is an inclusive network that is shaping our impact and the world around us, so that every young woman can have an unlimited future of their choice. It is made possible thanks to the generous funding from Enterprise Rent-A-Car who have pledged to donate £250,000 to fund the programme over five years. The partnership is part of Enterprise’s ROAD Forward (Respect, Opportunity, Achievement, Diversity) programme, a $55 million pledge to open new doors for individuals who are disproportionately affected by lack of access to resources in education, health and wellness.
