Ambassador Ishrat writes about her chat with Sema Gornall - an award-winning social entrepreneur and CEO of the charity Vavengers. Ishrat talked to Sema about her journey to becoming a government advisor on issues related to gender-based violence.

Hey everyone, I'm Ishrat, a proud Girls' Network Ambassador!

Joining the amazing Ambassador Community has been a game-changer for me.

It's not just a group—it's a safe space filled with endless opportunities. Think internships, speaking gigs, and even visits to iconic spots like 10 Downing Street! Plus, we have these awesome monthly workshops where we dive deep into important topics.

As a London Uni student, I'm all about making a difference in my community. My passion lies in policing and education policy, and I've even had the chance to mentor a senior police officer at the London Metropolitan Police. Talk about eye-opening!

Recently, I had the opportunity of hosting a virtual workshop called "How I Became a Government Advisor'' featuring Sema Gornall, CEO of The Vavengers charity. Sema's journey from Turkey to her current role as a Government Advisor is truly inspiring.

She's been a force in shaping policies and leading impactful campaigns with organisations like the Foreign & Commonweatlh Development Office, Home Office, and Metropolitan Police.

During the workshop, Sema shared her drive to change her story and inspire others to do the same. She reminded us that regardless of our background, we have the power to shape our destinies. Sema's passion for challenging societal norms and advocating for a better life for all really struck a chord with me.

Moreover, we learned about the critical role of government advisors in shaping policies and refining plans. Sema's advisory roles at the Metropolitan Police have been instrumental in ensuring that government agencies are held accountable and that the needs of affected communities are communicated effectively.

So, if you're curious about the world of Government Advisors and want to learn how you can make a difference you can watch the recording below.

It's all about connecting, gaining insights, and unlocking your potential. Don't miss out—let's make change together!

Thanks to Ishrat for this great introduction to a thought-provoking and inspiring conversation, we hope you enjoy watching the interview in full. Thanks also to Sema, for being part of this workshop and sharing her inspiring words with our community.
