SAFEGUARDING POLICY STATEMENT The Girls’ Network acknowledges its duty of care to safeguard and promote the welfare of young people. We are committed to ensuring safeguarding practice reflects UK legislation, government guidance and complies with best practices and the Charity Commission. At The Girls’ Network, the welfare of young people is paramount in all the work we do. Our Safeguarding Policy aims to ensure that regardless of age, gender, religion or beliefs, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation or socio-economic background, all young people involved with The Girls’ Network are protected from harm. Some young people, including disabled people and those from ethnic minority communities, are additionally vulnerable to abuse. As part of our safeguarding policy, The Girls’ Network accepts the responsibility to keep all young people safe and practice in a way that protects them from abuse by: Promoting and prioritising the safety and well-being of young people. Ensuring everyone understands their roles and responsibilities concerning safeguarding. Providing training and learning opportunities to staff enabling them to recognise, identify and respond to signs of abuse and other safeguarding concerns relating to young people. Ensuring appropriate action is taken in the event of allegations, incidents or concerns of abuse and support is provided to the individual/s who raised or disclosed the concern. Ensuring that confidential, detailed and accurate records of all safeguarding concerns are maintained, securely stored and only shared appropriately. Preventing the employment/deployment of unsuitable individuals. Ensuring robust safeguarding arrangements and procedures are in operation. The policy and its supporting procedures will be widely promoted and must be adhered to by everyone involved in The Girls’ Network, whether paid or unpaid. This includes directly employed staff, trustees, mentors, volunteers, and agency workers. Non-compliance will be promptly addressed and may result in dismissal from the organisation. Our Safeguarding Policy will be reviewed annually (or more frequently should that be required) by the Organisational Safeguarding Lead and will be approved by the Board of Trustees.
