Are you a woman in Worthing or the surrounding area looking for a meaningful way to support local girls and young women? By volunteering as a mentor with The Girls’ Network, you’ll help teenage girls build confidence, discover their strengths, and explore exciting opportunities for their future.

Our mentors come from all backgrounds - business, education, healthcare, tech, finance, and the arts. By sharing your experience and offering encouragement, you can make a real, life-changing difference to a girl’s confidence and ambitions.

What’s involved

Becoming a mentor is flexible, rewarding, and well supported. Here’s what to expect:

• Time commitment: Around one to two hours a month, over six to ten sessions.

• Location: Mentors meet their mentees in a school setting, alongside other mentor–mentee pairs.

• Session format: Each session lasts about an hour and offers space for conversation, goal-setting, and reflection.

• Support and training: You’ll receive training, guidance, and resources to help you make the most of your sessions.

• Safeguarding: All mentors complete safeguarding checks and training to ensure a safe and positive experience for everyone involved.

• What you need: All you need is around three years’ experience in any job, at any level, and the willingness and enthusiasm to help a girl believe in her unlimited future.

Mentoring can make an incredible difference to young people! From CVs and interviews to public speaking and confidence-building, mentors provide support that schools can’t always cover.
